To all my new partner teachers.... First of all, Happy Easter and we miss your faces at Strawberry Vale. We wanted to check up with our families and students and see how your journey is going with remote learning. We will continue to provide learning opportunities for you as best we can. We are aiming for Grade 4's to have 7-10 hours of schoolwork per week. We are focusing on language arts, math, with some Science, Socials and incorporating some ideas for physical activity. We know times are stressful, and your family comes first, so please just do what you can. Some questions for you: 1. How was last week? Was it too hard/ too easy? Was it manageable? 2. Do families want to continue the spelling and quiz their own child at the end of the week? I can continue to post it for those that do. I honestly, haven't come up with a way to quiz the students spelling for you remotely. 3. Was your child able to log into GoogleClassroom and answer the written responses? Many did and gave insightful, thoughtful responses. 4. Was your child able to log into IXL and work on assigned practice questions? (over 3000 questions answered last Tuesday by our kids!) (ixl passwords were emailed to parents last week) 5. Has your child clicked on the invitation in their Google Mail to accept invitation to Khan academy (it has an assigned video and questions for next Monday and Tuesday) - on Multiplication 6. Was your child able to log into Tumblebooks, Raz Kids, and or Epic? (I am monitoring Raz kids to see work done) We are waiting for our district to finalize instructions on the enterprise version of Zoom before we are allowed to have Zoom meetings with students. Once we do, we can help your child with questions via zoom and start a weekly meeting with students. All of this is a lot. I know. Just do what you can. We are hoping once your child is signed up for programs and zoom is available, it will all run smoother. In the meanwhile, we are available by email. If your child would like to facetime on Tuesday, let me know and I will call you. There will be a weekly calendar ready for you here by Tuesday https://docs.google.com/document/d/1DtyQxMvMlm1jnvWYCyo8zIDz7-DVmFM0QA92Jv0F4og/edit?usp=sharing spoiler alert: get your recycling and cardboard ready to create! Thinking of all of you. Tasha Gibbs
